WynnBET on Tuesday announced a new corporate partnership with the Cincinnati Reds of Major League Baseball. The two groups plan to collaborate on marketing efforts throughout the current 2021 season to try to introduce WynnBET to Reds fans in Indiana.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The presser indicates it might just be for this ongoing season.
The Indiana state line is only a 20-25 minute drive from downtown Cincinnati. Ohio has yet to legalize online/mobile sports betting, but it’s currently debating it in Columbus.
Benefits of marketing deal
WynnBET, which launched in Indiana on April 1, will have access to official Reds marks and logos for use across its online products. The online sportsbook can also leverage the Reds brand for various promotions, including free tickets to ballgames.
In addition to the Cincinnati Reds, WynnBET has recently inked deals with the Memphis Grizzlies and Detroit Pistons. Both Michigan and Tennessee have legal online sports betting.
WynnBET handled $485,306 in wagers in May, according to figures from the Indiana Gaming Commission.
The book won about $50,000 from players on those wagers.
With just 0.2% handle market share, WynnBET was the second-worst performing mobile sportsbook in the state in May. Indiana kicked off sports betting in fall 2019.
