#3 Purdue heads to Philadelphia to face the Peacocks of Saint Peter’s University
The top two seeds of the East Region in the 2022 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament have been eliminated, and the hometown Boilermakers now have an unexpected path as a favorite to advance to the Final Four.
Top-seeded and defending champion Baylor Bears were eliminated in the second round by UNC, and the Peacocks of Saint Peter’s took care of the Kentucky Wildcats and then upset Murray State to make it to the Sweet 16.
With the top two seeded teams now out of the East Region, the Purdue Boilermakers (29-7) from West Lafayette are now favored to make it all the way to the FInal Four next month at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
Tip-off against Saint Peter’s University is set for Friday at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, with the winner of that Elite Eight contest going up against either the North Carolina Tarheels or the UCLA Bruins.

Can Purdue Make The Final Four?
The Boilermakers are seeking their first Final Four appearance in more than four decades this weekend – and have an extremely rare opportunity to compete versus underdog teams.
The Purdue men’s basketball team has never won an NCAA championship game, but finished runner-up back in 1969 when they were blown out by UCLA. The Boilermakers lost in overtime back in 2019 when they faced off against top-seeded Virginia in the Elite Eight.
New Jersey’s Saint Peter’s University (21-11) is currently on a 9-game winning streak and comes out of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
Top Seeds Remain In Other NCAA Tournament Regions
Although the Baylor Bears have been eliminated in the East Region, all three other top seeds have made it to the Sweet 16: Arizona, Kansas, and last year’s runner-up Gonzaga.
Indiana Hoosiers Women’s Basketball Team Still In NCAA Tournament
The third-seeded Indiana Hoosiers women’s basketball team (24-8) will play against Connecticut this Saturday at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport.
Indiana will have to overcome the home court advantage enjoyed by Connecticut, but is only two victories away from making its first ever Final Four appearance in the women’s NCAA bracket.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish women’s basketball team (24-8) is also still alive in the NCAA women’s tournament.
The two-time NCAA Tournament Champions face NC State in a Saturday morning game in Bridgeport, with the winner of that game advancing to the Elite Eight and scheduled to play against either Indiana or Connecticut.
Indiana Sports Betting Handle Record From January Still Unbroken
January 2022 was the largest single month for legal Indiana sports betting handle ever, with over $500 million in total customer wagers reported.
In February 2022, those figures dropped by roughly 20% to $400 million total handle.
Now that March Madness is upon us, can Indiana legal sportsbooks outperform February’s statistics in what’s left of the month?
And will Purdue make its first-ever NCAA Tournament Final Four appearance in men’s basketball history?
We will all know which teams will play for the 2022 NCAA Championship once the weekend has concluded.
